Yes, that is ice Momma is paddling into. Mom, Noel and I braved the cold this year for our 10th annual New Years Day float trip. We took a relatively short float, but it was still nice to be on the river.

I pass by these grand old oaks everyday, and I'm always impressed by their structure. This grove survived last year's ice storm fairly well. I think I could do a whole series of silhouettes of these trees with varying skies.

I cleaned out the workshop in the basement over the weekend. I still had a stockpile of drywall scraps in a corner of the workshop. I had been slipping a few pieces in the trash here and there, but it would have taken a long time to get rid of them. I had more than I thought- I filled up the back of my truck with unusable pieces of drywall.

I didn't make it to the landfill on Saturday, so I had to wait until this morning. I arrived at the dump before they opened at 7:00 AM. I was already dressed in nice clothes for work, so I had to work carefully to unload the scraps. I had time to take a quick picture, and I still made it to work early.

Anyway, it feels nice to have a clean workshop. I could barely walk through it before. Now I have room to actually use the Shopsmith and other equipment. I hope to start building cabinets for the wetbar area this weekend.

UPDATE: MORE STORM PHOTOS POSTED HERE: http://www.milesboyer.com/gallery/4132263

We had a steady stream of dangerous storms pass through the Ozarks last night. The storm sirens started at about 6:00 PM yesterday evening, and they sounded intermittently until about 3:00 this morning. We had one wave after another of hail, high winds, heavy rain, and possible tornadoes.

The National Weather Service said they were tracking something like 14 different tornado paths in the area. They haven't seen that many possible tornadoes in one night for nearly 50 years.

There were reports of several paths that passed fairly close to our house, but we never saw anything but hail and heavy rain. We headed to the basement a couple times when the radar showed the bright purple stuff getting close to our house. Luckily, we didn't see any damage other than a slight leak around on of our windows.

Harry Cooper Supply wasn't so lucky. I stopped and took a few pictures on my way to work this morning. What a mess. I'm not sure if this was a tornado or just straight winds, but it definitely caused a lot of damage to several of their warehouses and trucks. I'll try to post more storm photos in a separate gallery.
